The medium fine stone is used for everyday sharpening. It works well as a final edge, even though it benefits from being polished in an additional step. The edge becomes sharp and has a good bite. Many users like slightly grippier edges because they don't slip on tomatoes.
The stone provides good feedback as it is relatively soft. This means it requires a lot of water and needs to soak in a water bath for about 10-15 minutes before sharpening. Due to the stone being somewhat softer compared to, for example, Shapton, it relatively quickly generates "slurry" which facilitates the sharpening process, especially if you are sharpening the blade sides and want a homogeneously covering kasumi finish.
