This Amakusa natural stone is medium-fine and provides an opaque kasumi finish. It creates fine contrasts on knives with an iron cladding, and we estimate that a comparison with a synthetic stone would correspond to a grit size of approximately 1000 grit. The advantage of using a coarse natural stone is that the scratch pattern it creates is easier to remove compared to the coarse scratches created by a synthetic stone. Therefore, this stone is excellent as a process stone in the pursuit of a perfect kasumi.
The stone measures 220mm x 70mm x 60mm, making it easy to handle during use. Furthermore, it has a long lifespan thanks to its size, so you can rely on it to last a long time.
