Ogata is a skilled knifemaker from Takefu, Japan. He worked as a sharpener for the renowned blacksmith Shiro Kamo for several years, but for the past 3 years, he has worked independently, and his knives have received much appreciation worldwide. Since he uses powder steel in his knives, the need for hot forging is not critical. It is a very stable steel with a well-distributed grain that simply does not need to be hot-forged with a power hammer. For this reason, he enlists the help of the company Takefu Tokushu Steel, which laser-cuts the blade shape and heat-treats the steel. Ogata does all other aspects of the manufacturing himself, with some help from his wife, who handles the administrative tasks.
