Ogata is a skilled knifemaker from Takefu, Japan. He worked as a sharpener for the renowned blacksmith Shiro Kamo for several years, but for the past 3 years, he has been working independently, and his knives have received much appreciation worldwide. Since he uses powder steel in his knives, the need for hot forging is not as critical. It is a very stable steel with a well-distributed grain that simply does not need to be hot forged with a power hammer. For this reason, he enlists the help of the company Takefu Tokushu Steel, which laser-cuts the blade shape and heat-treats the steel. Ogata handles all other aspects of production himself, with some assistance from his wife, who takes care of the administrative tasks.
