The Takamura family forges chef's knives in the city of Echizen, Japan. The knife has a very thin blade sharpened to an absolute razor's edge. The steel is the high-performance powder steel SG-2, which Takamura heat-treats with great care (62-63 HRC). If you are looking for a light knife with a blade that cuts incredibly well, this is the knife for you. However, we want to point out that the hard and thin blade cannot withstand rough use. It is a precision tool that should be used with care and finesse.
